Teacher Tribute 

Marge Bakalar 1926-2010 

We are sad to report the passing of Marge Bakalar on April 19, 2010. I know I speak for many when I say that Ms. Bakalar effected many of our lives and will always be thought of as one the all-time great educators, not only at Topeka West High School, but in the entire state of Kansas. Many have said that they were intimidated and even scared of Ms Bakalar, but they always finsh by saying she was their favorite teacher. Click on the link above to see her obituary. 

Wayne Wingo 1927-2004

For those that may have missed it, Wayne Wingo passed away in April 2004. Mr. Wingo was a very stern teacher that demanded your best effort. He was famous for his ability to be incredibly serious while giving an assignment or instruction, pausing and then flashing that cheesy, almost sarcastic smile at the end. You may also remember that he and his wife Wanda were in a television commercial for a local jewelry store. Easily one of the best teachers at any level we ever had.
